Well thank god the end of term has finally arrived and with it, 3 weeks of sweet, sweet freedom! Anyway, being the biggest procrastinator this side of Obama, I decided to do a bit of research on one of my favourite topics when I was meant to be writing my essay: conspiracy theories. I came across THIS very disturbing and just plain freaky “sinister site” – that of Denver International Airport. Seriously, what the actual fack were the designers thinking when they planned this airport? Weird…

Bonus mp3 by one of the more famous conspiracy theorist bands out there: Muse‘s ‘Uprising’ HERE.

On est tous passés par là

I hate to quote anything from the pile of trash commonly known as The Sun but THIS is absolutely hilarious! It’s so typical of French politics (and when I say French politics, I’m really talking about Nicolas Sarkozy) that both he and his wife have been accused of having affairs simultaneously. I’m actually a fan of Benjamin Biolay‘s music and was quite surprised to discover that he is in fact the young/old man with whom Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has been rumoured of sharing extra-marital relations. It will be very interesting to see how this story pans out and how the French react to the news that their “beloved” first couple is falling apart at the seams. In other news, what’s going on with Ms. Bruni’s face?

Bonus mp3 of Benjamin Biolay’s ‘Los Angeles’ HERE.

Vacation is over, don’t wait

Anyone who knows me in the slightest bit subsequently knows that I’m a slut for all things The Virgins. By that, I am of course referring to the New York-based band you sick-minded lad/lass. I’m quite surprised these guys aren’t receiving the recognition they deserve for their vintage sound and amazing videos but hey, there’s still time yet – after all, they’ve only got one major album release under their collective belts. Ch-ch-check out this pretty sweet vid by theirs and if you like the track, HERE‘s a remix featuring up-and-comer Sky Ferreira.

I don’t think I’ve ever been so pysched for the release of a new album as much as I am for MGMT‘s sophomore album ‘Congratulations’ due to hit stores (and, of course, the e-world) on April 16th. So far my intuitive ears and eyes have yet to hear or see any leaks but one thing is for certain: the album art rawks! According to the ever-reliable (ahem) Wikipedia, the guys have already stated that they will not be releasing any singles from the album. If that turns out to be the case, I seriously hope there’s at least some form of video promotion involved.

Until then, check out a fantastic remix of ‘The Youth’ HERE.

Never have I ever

Have any of you bishes ever played the fantastically confusing, yet visually stunning, 1996 Dreamworks game ‘The Neverhood’? Is that a resounding no I hear? I’m not surprised. I only heard of it because my dad happened to bring it back for me in pirated form from a Hong Kong market. Okay, I’m going to be honest: I never managed to complete this game without the help of a trusty walkthrough… it’s possibly the most confusing game of all time. Check out some screenies below:

If you ever got the opportunity to play, I highly recommend you do so – even if, in parts, it will actually make you want to rip your hair out. Speaking of clay, HERE‘s a bonus mp3 of ‘Liquid’ by Christian rockers (?) Jars of Clay. DOH.

Feeling better?

Well well well, the last two weeks certainly have gone by in an instant blur of parties, arcade games, general chaos and a shockingly bad dose of influenza. Apologies for the lack of updates! To be fair, though, I’ve pretty much been in a state of paralysis all week so blogging was definitely not an option. On the brighter side, and since I am indeed now feeling significantly better, I’m in the mood to show fellow frogs The Teenagers some love. HERE‘s an mp3 of their 2008 release ‘Feeling Better’. Thoughts on the video?

Lift Me Up

Cole Rise produces some very interesting art using what looks like a combination between photography, Photoshop and some kick-ass special effects. Having actually been to Yosemite National Park, as represented in the first pic below, I feel very much connected to his work. On top of that, I’ve wanted to fly for as long as I can remember so it definitely provides a touch of escapism to the drab world of reality. Indie rockers Passion Pit have the same effect on the ears, so have a listen to their track ‘Better Things’ HERE.

We’re going places you’ve never dreamed of

If you, like me, are seriously into nostalgia and revisiting old memories, Dragonette‘s stellar 80’s throwback ‘Pick Up the Phone’ is bound to assist you in doing so. I must confess that I’ve been listening to the track on repeat since yesterday – and the video is simply one of those semi-hidden gems with a great, symbolic storyline that you can’t help but watch multiple times. Happy reminiscing!

mp3 HERE.

Pavement art…

…or if you come happen to come from the other side of the proverbial pond, sidewalk art. I’m not entirely sure who created these masterpieces of urban art but what I do know is that they definitely appeal to me in every single way possible. I’m all for the gentrification of otherwise mundane and (so to speak) pedestrian environments, and what better way to do so than through the magic of art? If anyone has any idea whom the mastermind behind these is, please do let me know.

Whilst we’re on the subject of pavements, here‘s an mp3 of The Subways‘ appropriate ode ‘City Pavement’

Not just for kids

Now THIS shit right here is the epitome of cool. Let’s be honest, everyone loves a bit of Lego. I mean, it really doesn’t matter how old you are – no-one can resist the brightly-coloured bricks of our childhoods. For me, looking at them instantly throws my mind way back to the pink, fuzzy memories of a simpler life. The Danish giant’s new advertising campaign is indicative of the timeless pleasures of Lego and obviously reflects the endless possibilities accessible with the use of just a little imagination.

Bonus mp3 of an excellent The Kooks cover of MGMT‘s ‘Kids’ HERE if you feel like getting in touch with the child inside of you. On that note, I’m off to buy some Lego on eBay.
